Power Electronics
Key Responsibilities • Design and develop Power Control Units (PCUs), Power Distribution Units (PDUs), isolated/non-isolated DC-DC converters, ACDC converters/SMPS, inverters, motor drives and regulated power supplies. • Select suitable power-conversion topologies and design power stages using MOSFETs, IGBTs/SiC devices, gate drivers, sensing, protection, filtering, feedback and magnetic components. • Perform circuit simulation, design calculations, power-loss and efficiency analysis, component derating and thermal analysis. • Develop and review schematics, BOMs and PCB layouts for high-current/high-power designs, including grounding, isolation, creepage/clearance and EMI/EMC considerations. • Carry out prototype bring-up, debugging and functional, load, transient, efficiency, thermal and reliability testing using standard power-electronics lab equipment. • Develop PCU functions including power switching, regulation, protection, distribution, health monitoring and load control, with CAN/RS-422/RS-485 or similar interfaces where required. • Support EMI/EMC and environmental qualification, troubleshoot failures at component/circuit/system level and implement corrective design improvements. • Support productionisation, component qualification/alternates, engineering documentation and technical guidance to junior engineers.
Candidate Profile: •B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, EEE, ECE, Power Electronics or a closely related discipline. • 4–5 years of relevant hands-on experience in power-electronics hardware design and development. • Should have independently owned or substantially contributed to at least 2–3 products from requirements and topology selection through hardware bring-up and testing. • Strong practical experience in PCUs, DC-DC converters, SMPS/power supplies, motor drives or similar power-electronic systems. • Good understanding of magnetics, gate-drive circuits, control/feedback, thermal design, protection and EMI/EMC design practices. • Hands-on with oscilloscopes, power analysers, electronic loads and simulation tools such as LTspice, PSpice, MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent. • Experience in defence, aerospace, automotive or other mission-critical/high-reliability electronics is preferred.
